First Annual Len Hudson Charity Golf Event

Augusta, Kan., August 13, 2007 - With the temperature over 100 degrees, golfers braved the heat to participate in the First Annual Len Hudson Charity Golf Event to benefit the Augusta Historic Theatre.  Through sponsorship, the charity golf event was able to give the theatre $375.00.

"I wanted a way to thank my students and reward them for their improvement to their golf game.  In addition, I wanted them to have the opportunity to get to know other golf students while also raising money for the Augusta Historic Theatre," stated Len Hudson, owner of Len Hudson Golf.  "We hope to have an even bigger turn-out next year with more funds raised for another local organization.  Overall, we were very pleased with the turn-out and glad to be able to give the theatre a donation."

The event was held on August 13, 2007 at the Augusta Country Club.  Thirty-one people attended and golf students and local business owners played in the non-competitive tournament.  A dinner, sponsored by Dillon's of Augusta, followed while participants received Goody Bags and awards for longest drive and closest-to-the-pin drive.

Augusta Historic Theatre director Deann Triboulet and Augusta Arts Council member Jane Mathias also attended the tournament, cooking hamburgers and hotdogs for hungry golfers and providing "club cleaning" for donations.

"We had so much fun!  And we were very glad proceeds benefited the theatre," expressed Triboulet.  "The Augusta Historic Theatre has been offering fun family entertainment for over seventy years and we are always so happy when area businesses get involved to make a difference at the theatre."

Area businesses provided "hole sponsorships" and gifts for golfers.  Sponsors included:  Len Hudson Golf, Print Necessities, ButlerCountyConnection.com, McCollom Construction, Augusta Family Dentistry, Cooper Drug Store, La Bella Flowers and Gifts, Parks Chevrolet, Sundgren Realty, Strickler's Shoe Store, Dillon's of Augusta, Steve Pickard of Pickard Insurance Agency, Brett Bell of Ameriprise, Rick Loveall of CMH Realty, Inc. and El Dorado Chiropractic.

USGTF Certified Golf Instructor Len Hudson and fellow golfer Mike Clark made the 700 mile trek to Corpus Christi, Texas to sample the golf courses and hospitality of the area last week.

Hudson went to the Texas city to arrange housing and golf for an upcoming golf tour for Korean golfers.  The group of Korean golfers will spend the month of February 2007 golfing and sightseeing in the Corpus Christi area.

While in Texas, the Kansans toured prospective housing sites, museums and restaurants assisted by the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau.  They also played the Padre Island Country Club course and the Northshore Country Club course.  Corpus Christi temperatures were in the high 50 to 60 degree range during their visit.

Len Hudson Golf plans to make shorter golf outings available to local golfers in the near future as well as hosting a number of visitors from Korea.
